Melvin's Mother has been creating cross stitch pieces for years. Recently she finished six blocks and asked me to create a quilt using her cross stitch blocks.
After seeing the blocks, I wanted to create a quilt that would show off her work while creating a simple pattern that would not conflict.
I chose gray and white cotton fabric to accent her her blues, pinks and greens. I also created simple nine patch blocks and stripes to compliment her cross stitch flowers and birds. For the backing, I chose to add a simple horizontal striping to add interest.
Thanks to Donna Warnemont for her beautiful quilting to finished off the quilt.
As you can see, cross stitch and quilting is a great combination!
