During my attendance at the 2023 QuiltCon in Raleigh, North Carolina, I was not fortunate enough to take a Patchwork Sashiko method class with Diana li Fitzgerald, creator and designer of Banjoflannel, however I was able to attend one of her lectures.
During the informative lecture, she talked about creating tactiles and using the slow stitching method. As usual, I was intrigued so I purchased four of her kits and her book. After the lecture, I began to create a textile piece with the intention of stitching it by hand.
After four months, I decided to create the piecing using my Sashiko machine. It came out great and with a fraction of the time that it would have taken to hand sew it.
Take a look at my process.
